  • May 22nd - Lake Placid Public Library -  The Lake Placid Institute Reading Group, which concentrates on the arts, will discuss The Vanishing Velazquez: A 19th Century Bookseller's Obsession with a Last Masterpiece by Laura Cumming. The story about a man who acquires a lost masterpiece is true, but reads like mystery fiction. All are welcome. 7 p.m.
  • May 23rd - Saranac Lake Free Library - Volunteers Cleanup Morning , 9 a.m. to 12 noon, to help get the library in shipshape for spring. Volunteers are asked to come bringing buckets, rags and rubber gloves, if possible. The library will provide cleaning supplies. Volunteers may come for part of the time or the full three hours. A variety of cheese, donated by Cabot Cheese, will be available for tasting.  Also appetizers provided by the Friends group and 12 difference wines supplied by Celotti's Wine and Spirits. Cheese made available through a generous donation from Cabot Creamery. Tickets are $15 and $20 at the door, also available at the library prior to June 3rd or at Celotti's .
